LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS
Beginners (B) ~ A class suitable for students who are new to yoga and/or Anusara™, as well as those wanting to brush up on their basic alignment skills, and drop into a slower pace to explore the immediate sensations that arise in the body, breath, mind and heart. In this class you will learn the foundational five Principles of the Anusara practice, which provide a clear and practical way to maximize your flexibility and strength. The poses given will have modifications and variations, with a focus on coordinating breath and movement. You will also become familiar with basic yoga terminology, and fundamental ways to incorporate the practice of yoga into your day to day life.

Basics (1) ~ These classes hold safe space for those new to the practice, while offering seasoned practitioners deeper variations of the asanas to explore - inspire and be inspired! For the student who has a firm grasp of the five foundational Principles of Anusara. In this class you will also explore the energetic loops and spirals of the body, as well as begin to learn the fundamental concepts of the tantric wisdom teachings that support the physical practice. There will be a wider array of poses offered to challenge your edge, and to stimulate a more refined understanding of your body, mind, and heart.

Prerequisite: At least one solid year of yoga. If you have never practiced Anusara, it is recommended that you take the Beginners class for at least two to three months.

Expanding (2) ~ In this class you will begin to focus on the more subtle energetic alignment of the body from the inside. The Expanding class builds upon the poses of the Basics class with challenging variations, as well as many new poses to expand your understanding of your physical, intellectual, and emotional body. In addition, deeper esoteric tantric teachings will be offered to contemplate in relation to your life path.

Prerequisite: At least one solid year of the Basics class.

Active Restorative (R) ~ A class that uses the interplay of both active and passive poses to release habitual tension and increase awareness of the energetic body. The practice will end with a supported pose, held for 5-7 minutes, and shavasana. All levels of practitioner are welcome.

Introduction to Meditation (M) ~ This class is an entry-level practice of tantric meditation, based on the teachings of Paul Muller-Ortega. There will be 45-50 minutes of asana practice, focused on simple standing, seated, reclined, and supine poses to prepare you to sit with ease for a 10-15 minute meditation, followed by shavasana. All levels of practitioner are welcome.
