Join Mark for a full day of Autumnal awakening, surrounded by the vibrant display of the momiji! This is an opportunity to steep yourself in the beauty of Nikko, and revitalize your creative spirit with a unique combination of asana, tantric meditation, and yoga nidra practices.
Fire: The Creation of New Perspectives
Autumn`s array of vibrant, fiery color can inspire us to refresh our own perspective with new concepts, and new ways of living our life path. In the tantric yoga practice, fire is that element that brings new colors and forms to our eyes so we may have new understandings arise.
In this session we will engage in a delightful sequence of twists, backbends, and balancing poses. These dynamic, yet playful forms will give us a fresh perspective on how to interact with ourselves. This combination will detoxify and revitalize our bodies, create luminous clarity in our minds, and engender courageous discernment in our hearts.
This session will include a pranayama and meditation practice.
Nectar: The Awakening of Refined Insight
After the fires of purification have begun to remove the limitations to our understandings, the cool, soothing nectar of revelation can begin to flow into and transform our awareness.
In this session, our focus will be on the interior energetic body. We will practice a deeply restorative sequence of hip openers and forward bends to expand the lower back muscles, lengthen the spine, and calm the nervous system. This practice will release bound emotional energy stored in the pelvis, and induce a quieting equanimity throughout the body, mind, and heart.
You will then be led through a practice of yoga nidra, or “sleep of the yogi”. This is a guided meditation in which you will explore the sacred centers of the energetic body, and release yourself into the ever-expanding bliss of your own core essence.
NOTE: In both asana practices, there will be modifications available for those new to the practice, as well as more challenging variations for seasoned practitioners. This a multi-level Autumnal celebration!
Both workshops will be presented in English, with Japanese translation.
